Worked as a General Store Assistant at Klondyke & Strikes garden centre, developing a broad skill set across customer service, retail operations, and department management. While primarily based on tills, the role expanded to include working across multiple departments, supporting stock control, warehouse organisation, merchandising, and in-store displays.
Took ownership of the Craft Department, independently managing stock, handling customer enquiries, and delivering seasonal activities, including hosting children’s craft sessions during peak periods. Completed specialist training to become one of two team members qualified to care for and sell animals in-store, maintaining high standards of welfare and customer guidance.
Additional responsibilities included supporting the maintenance of indoor and outdoor plant areas, assisting customers with product advice, and contributing to overall store presentation. The role strengthened adaptability, independence, and confidence working across varied, customer-focused environments.
