Slovakian Cultural Exchange Program

This section highlights my participation in a month-long cultural exchange programme in Slovakia, where I lived independently from 17 July to 17 August. Travelling alone without knowing the language or anyone involved in the programme, I embraced the challenge of adapting to a completely new environment and culture. This experience significantly strengthened my confidence, independence, and ability to navigate unfamiliar situations.

During my time in Slovakia, I took part in learning traditional Slovakian crafts, developing practical skills while gaining insight into the country’s heritage and cultural practices. I also managed my own budgeting and daily living, shared accommodation with people I had never met before, and built connections with both fellow participants and local residents.

Immersing myself in the community allowed me to learn elements of the Slovak language and deepen my appreciation for cultural exchange. This programme broadened my perspective, enhanced my interpersonal skills, and taught me the value of cultural adaptability, teamwork, and open-mindedness.
